Full changelog so far (Current V0.4.1)


Here's a quick version history starting from the most recent update (V0.4.1)

 0.4.1

  • Escape key now properly opens AND closes the menu.
  • Pause menu adjusted to set phsyics timer to 0 as opposed to stopping the tree completely. Code also refactored.
  • Cleared out a bunch of old commented code.
  • WASD AND Arrow keys now both work by default. (UNTESTSED controller support as well)

0.4

  • Level progression tracker now added to the game.
  • A loaded save past level 0 + ending the level will now put you onto the correct level.
  • Test level will be known as level 0 in save file.
  • INCOMPLETE - Level 1 skeleton almost complete. Unable to navigate or finish the level so far. Also need to populate it (and of course change the placeholder assets). UI added.

 0.3.4

  • Add test music to main menu that autoplays and then stops when starting game.
  • Add comments to functions across the project. This will help me as the codebase gets larger.

 0.3.3

  • Added Level complete trigger and screen.
  • Added tracking for slimes killed and HP lost since the level was last completed (deleting save or finishing resets this counter).
  • Attempted file restructure to clean the directory up a bit. Godot did NOT like this at all. After spending a couple of hours trying to fix the fires, a decision was made to revert it and keep the messy structure for this project.

  • Fixed bug where Slime Chuncks wouldn't reset after dying.
  • Added death screen.

  • "Delete Save" button added to main menu.
  • Fixed bug where menu was frozen after going there from the game.
  • Lowered the volume of Rocky death so it doesn't destroy ears anymore.

  • Players now bounce off of Rocky when jumping ontop of them. Also a sound now plays!
  • A basic pause menu has been implemented. Still need to figure out the escape key in menu bug.
  • A placeholder background has been added to the test level.

  • Added Slime chunk counter. Counter goes up when slimes die.
  • Added autosave + load features. HP and Slime chunks are saved.
  • Added Crown collectable to heal the player 1 HP.
  • Added a timer that semi randomly spawns both a slime and a crown every 10 seconds.
  • Altered HP to belong in a global script.

0.1.2

  • Added tiles for ground, wall and platforms.
  • Adjusted level geometry to fit tiles.
  • Adjust player collision box to be more accurate and not leave gaps between level collisions.

 V0.1.1

  • Added player HP.
  • Enemies can now hurt the player.
  • Game ends when player reaches 0 HP.
  • Added more enemies to test player getting hurt + falling off of platforms.

 V0.1

  • This is the initial build of the game.
  • Basic main menu with a placeholder parallax background.
  • An animated playable character that can move and jump (jump animation doesn't work).
  •  A basic enemy that can be killed if you jump ontop of it. The enemy also moves towards the player if they are close enough.
  • A base walls + floor to contain the player in a box for testing purposes.
