Still alive!
The Curse of Slimetopia » Devlog
Hello! It’s been a while. A lot has happened both in my life and in this games development cycle since I last posted here. I have became a dad for the first time… This initially had a significant impact on the amount of development time I had. However since the last week of January things have started to pick up again. There has been a total of 5 updates to the steam version since I last posted. Below are all the changes.
0.0.7.8
- Fixed a bug where some levels (mainly hard levels) were showing nothing after fading to black.
- Added some hitbox adjustments to stop players becoming immune to instant death spikes.
- Increased hitbox change speed to hopefully mitigate issues where the player could clip through things.
- Made cutscenes skippable by pressing the pause button twice and removed the pause menu that was crashing the game.
- Fixed a bug that allowed the player to clip under the platform in the post world 2 cutscene.
- Minor fixes to the Z-indexes of a few objects.
0.0.7.9
- Added the start of the swamp biome tileset.
- Added first powerless player level WIP created (level 3-1) using new swamp tileset.
- FIXED player jumping during cutscene.
- FIXED Level progression crash when not using level select.
- FIXED “Ground Stomp Unlocked” showing on the incorrect level.
- FIXED “boss camera” carrying over to the next level when not using level select.
- FIXED Music player not correctly changing in some circumstances.
- Added new song for the cave biome levels.
- Changed old level 3-1 to TEST on level select screen.
- Added additional mapping to intro cutscene to stop immersion breaking.
0.0.8.0

- Additional menu navigation for non-mouse users (specifically when completing a level).
- Fixed occasional blank screen when starting the tutorial.
- Add adjusted mouse cursor while hovering buttons with a mouse for readability.
- Added a new finish sign to replace the placeholder. In future each biome will have its own variation.
- Replaced the base sprites for the 4 non-boss enemies. They will also have different variations for each biome in future.
- Adjusted the movement logic for Zlippern to feel slippier and zip around more as the name indicates.
- Fixed hole on level 2 is now actually a hole and is instant kill again.
- Can no longer get stuck under the scaffolding after beating the slime boss.
- Minor additions to level 3-1 (Still a WIP level).
- New slide mechanic added for the player.
0.0.8.1
- Level 3-1 layout level is now completed properly. Just needs some additional art to spruce it up.
- Altered level layouts slightly on tuorial to avoid getting stuck when unducking.
- Trying to unduck or jump while sliding no longer stops the player from moving side to side.
- Added boundries to level 1-1 and 2-1 to stop player escaping the level.
- Fixed invisible boundry on the boss level. Also increased thickness of ceiling boundry to hopefully stop the player from clipping above the boss area.
